After four years of exploration, the Xinjiang Geology and Mineral Department has now discovered three large iron mines with reserves of more than 100 million tons in the Awu Lal metallogenic belt of the Western Tianshan Mountains. Adequate resources are guaranteed.
Dong Lianhui, chief engineer of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Bureau of Geology and Mineral Resources, said that since 2007, the Xinjiang Bureau of Geology and Mineral Resources has used a total of more than 200 million yuan in prospecting funds from the state and the autonomous region to conduct mineral exploration within 6,000 square kilometers of the Awu Lal metallogenic belt in the West Tianshan Mountains. Resource exploration, as of now, the estimated iron ore resources are 2 billion tons, and the proven resource reserves are more than 500 million tons. A total of 3 billion-ton volcanic rock-type magnetites have been discovered in the preparations iron ore, Chagangnuoer iron ore, and Zhibo iron ore. , ore grade 40% to 50%. With the further deepening of the exploration work, the predicted amount of iron ore resources in the Awulare metallogenic belt will increase significantly.
Dong Lianhui said that the predicted resources of iron ore in the Awulal metallogenic belt account for more than 20% of the current estimated total iron ore in Xinjiang of 9.09 billion tons. After the proven reserves of 300 million tons of iron ore in the Awu Lal metallogenic belt, Baosteel, Shougang, etc. have been stationed in the development. Production provides adequate resource assurance.
According to the Xinjiang Bureau of Geology and Mineral Resources, the Tianshan metallogenic belt is one of the three major metallogenic belts in Xinjiang, and 136 kinds of various mineral resources have been discovered, which are bounded by Urumqi and the West Tianshan to the west. According to the prospecting plan between Xinjiang and the Ministry of Land and Resources, in addition to iron ore resources, Xinjiang's geological and mining department is conducting exploration for gold, copper, lead and zinc and other mineral resources in the West Tianshan Mountains, and some deposits with great prospecting potential have been discovered.
